In the week of 25th of August to the 1st of September, we went on our first excursion as Arctic Nature Guide (ANG) students!

We learned all about glaciers on Svalbard (Spitsbergen), how to become a good glacier guide and we had the chance to get to know each other better while being out in nature.

Our ANG-group consists of 27 students, altogether from 10 different countries. I am the only one from the Netherlands and the others are from Norway, Poland, Spain, USA, Swiss, Germany, Denmark, France and Romania. For most of us, it’s the first time on Svalbard, so that made this trip even more exciting!

The glacier we visited is Harrietbreen in Trygghamna.

It was an extraordinary week and I made this video (HD) to give you an impression.

In case you are wondering what we are all looking at, at the end of the video, it’s a huge polarbear!
